Corey Truett, Pastor

Corey Truett, Pastor

I always feel like the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:4-6 when I write a bio.  Sure, I have qualifications, such as being a former professional speaker with the Making It Count programs and Monster.com for eight years, serving churches in three states, being a 20 year youth ministry veteran, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education and Communication Studies from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, receiving a Masters of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary, and being an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church.

But ultimately, none of those bring me joy and meaning like these two things: Jesus and family.  I love my Savior and want to completely give my life over to Him each and every day. I am humbled that He called me to start a new church and am excited about this new opportunity. It only took me eight years to listen to call…no big deal! I love my wife, Heather, who is forever insistent (even as I am typing this!) that she is a Time Lady from Gallifrey. I love my children Savannah, Haydn, and David, who, poor things, inherited all of my strangeness and spiritual gift of sarcasm.  All of these are my pride and joy, and where I find my peace.

Nelson Coile, Worship Leader

Nelson Coile, Worship Leader

As a pastor’s kid, unless I was sick or dead I was at church. I developed a desire to play guitar and joined a church band when I was thirteen years old. At the ICC Wesley Foundation, I had the opportunity to become a worship leader. The director John Foster taught me how to form a band, how to do an order of worship, and lead my fellow college students. Because of ICC, I got to meet Corey while he was at FUMC Tupelo! From there, I served at Oxford-University UMC and with the help of Chris McAlilly, I decided to never stop leading people in worship.

I moved to DeSoto County to be the assistant director of the Lewisburg High School Marching Band. I got reacquainted with Corey and Heather and we have been working together ever since! I’ve been married to the love of my life Amanda for two years! Leading worship is very special to me. It’s about creating an environment where the Spirit can move and God can touch the hearts of fellow believers in order to advance His Kingdom on Earth! Through the Well, I have grown exponentially as a worship leader. I look forward to see where God leads us next!

Nilse Gilliam, Children's Minister

Nilse Gilliam, Children's Minister

I am passionate about developing leaders and helping people thrive in their gifts. So, what better place to be than in children’s ministries? I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I was fortunate to grow up with amazing people who invested in me. I am married to Chef Sean and we have two lively kids: Elijah and Naya. I am in love with my family and I treasure serving Christ at The Well with them. Since this is a bio, I’ve got a B.A. in Mass Communications from Rust College, an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Memphis and I am working on an M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary.

I was working in the Communications filed when God made it very evident that it was time to say yes to His call and dedicate myself to full-time ministry. It has been an honor and a pleasure to disciple kids, helping them grow and be molded by God. Growing up today looks a lot different than what it did 20 years ago and I perceive God is waking up the church to early childhood discipleship. I am happy to be a part of this convocation and I am happy that my kids get to grow in a spiritually healthy environment.

Drew and Jen also help lead the college ministry. When he isn’t at his full-time job, he enjoys hanging out with his family and the kids in the youth group. He also enjoys video games, hiking, and a weird sense of humor.
